Disability Employment Awareness Month: Grande Spirit Foundation
October is Disability Employment Awareness Month (#DEAM), and we are highlighting Alberta employers who demonstrate leadership in including individuals with developmental disabilities in their organizations.
Grande Spirit Foundation hired two employees this year through the Rotary Employment Partnership.
Laura’s primary role is ensuring COVID-19 sanitizing protocols are performed continually throughout Wild Rose Manor, helping to keep seniors, staff and visitors safe. Laura has excelled in her role and recently had the opportunity to participate in training new staff.
Amber was hired to maintain the beautiful outdoor gardens at Wild Rose Manor. This seasonal landscaping position includes weeding, removing garbage and sweeping.
Shari Hrehoruk, Housing Manager, says that both Laura and Amber have been tremendous additions to their team.
“Our flower gardens have never looked as beautiful as they did this year! Amber did an amazing job, and we are grateful for her help and hard work,” says Shari. She says that Laura takes pride in her work and her attention to detail shows in everything that she does. “Laura is a valuable member of our team that staff and residents look forward to spending time with. The Rotary Employment Partnership has been a tremendous benefit to our organization.”
Thank you, Grande Spirit Foundation, for your strong commitment to inclusive hiring!
