FMS Staff Hiring (virtual)

2025/2026 FMS Learning Series
Inclusion Alberta’s Darrell Cook Family Managed Supports Resource Centre presents:
FMS Staff Hiring
Hiring and training new staff is one of the most important responsibilities for families using individualized funding through FMS/FSCD. A thoughtful and well-structured process ensures that staff are set up for success in supporting your family members. Families and Fund Administrators play a critical role in shaping and maintaining strong, respectful working relationships with their staff.
Join us for a session that provides practical guidance on staff hiring processes. We will explore how to conduct interviews, complete reference and police checks and clarify the difference between employees and contractors (self-employed). Participants will learn how to communicate clear job expectations, review administrative requirements, and establish effective communication practices.
Key concepts include:
- Conducting effective pre-screening processes and interviews
- Understanding responsibilities with employees or contractor (self-employed) staff
- Setting clear expectations for staff
- Managing required documentation
