3 Ways to Volunteer with Inclusion Alberta

3 Ways to Volunteer with Inclusion Alberta

March 8, 2021

At Inclusion Alberta, we are continually humbled and warmed by the generosity shown to our organization and the families we support from people across the province. From our Dream Makers and donors to business leaders who open their doors as inclusive employers with the Rotary Employment Partnership, each contribution helps us in our mission to advocate for children and adults with developmental disabilities to live fully inclusive lives in their communities.

We are often asked how someone can give their time to Inclusion Alberta in the form of volunteering. While we don’t necessarily have typical in-person or hands-on volunteer positions, we definitely have opportunities for community members to volunteer their time to help spread the message of inclusion and advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Here are three ways you can help spread the values of inclusion in your community:

  1. Civic Engagement: Meeting with your local government officials (MLA, MP, Senators, etc.) is one of the most powerful and effective means of having government listen, understand and act on the issues that impact individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. When one person takes the time to meet personally with an MLA, MP, Senator, school board trustee or other government leader, it signals to them that there are hundreds of others with the same interest in a better life for individuals with developmental disabilities. Please contact us for a list of some of the actions we think are important for individuals with developmental disabilities and families.

Every contribution to Inclusion Alberta is felt with deep gratitude from both the families we support, and also by our many staff across the province who work daily to provide them with much needed support and advocacy.
