Inclusive employment: Missy at Farside Bar & Grill (Red Deer Polytechnic)

January 20, 2026

Missy is a student in Red Deer Polytechnic’s (RDP) Practical Nursing Program and with the support of Inclusion Alberta’s Inclusive Post-Secondary Education initiative, was hired as a front-of-house staff member at the Farside Bar and Grill on campus. Her role includes serving customers, helping the kitchen staff where needed and performing various downtime tasks.

Missy says she loves her job, especially the opportunity it gives her to meet new people and says she has built great relationships with her co-workers.

“I love having a work environment where I feel like I belong and am accepted,” says Missy.

Her supervisors at the Farside Bar and Grill say that Missy often goes above and beyond in her duties, takes initiative and works well independently.

Congratulations on your great new employee, Farside Bar and Grill, and congratulations to Missy on your new part-time job while you complete your studies!
