FMS Staff Recruitment (virtual)

2025/2026 FMS Learning Series
Inclusion Alberta’s Darrell Cook Family Managed Supports Resource Centre presents:
FMS Staff Recruitment
Accessing individualized funding through FMS/FSCD gives families the opportunity to choose how support staff are part of their family member’s life. With that choice comes the responsibility of finding the right people—staff who are a good fit, share your values, and can support your family member’s goals in meaningful ways.
This session is designed to support families through the staff-hiring process, step by step. We’ll start by thinking about your family member’s vision for a good life and how that vision can guide who you hire. From there, we’ll explore how to write clear job descriptions, advertise effectively, hire for the right fit, and build relationships that help staff stay.
Families will leave with practical ideas, tools, and greater confidence to build a strong and sustainable support team that makes everyday life better.
In this session, we will cover:
- Thinking about your family member’s vision for a meaningful life and using it to guide hiring
- Writing clear and effective job descriptions and job postings
- Identifying the skills, qualities, and values to look for in staff
- Practical strategies for finding and keeping good staff
