Disability Filibuster to Stop Bill C-7

March 9, 2021

A group of Canadians with Disabilities is organizing a Disability Filibuster on Bill C-7. If you wish to participate or learn more, please see their message below. You can also find them on Twitter at @DisabilityFili1.

“People with disabilities across Canada will come together this week in an unprecedented show of solidarity in the campaign to defeat Bill C7.

The Disability Filibuster on Bill C7 is an ambitious undertaking fuelled by the resolve and commitment of disability activists and allies committed to a vision of justice and equality and determined to defend and celebrate our lives and our culture. We hope that many of you will join us by volunteering for a 30 minute broadcast of your own design, and that others will come on board to play behind-the-scenes supportive roles.

Our online Filibuster will began at 7 PM on Monday, March 8. You can follow our Twitter account at @DisabilityFili1 for updates.

A project of this scale and on these timelines requires a tremendous amount of volunteer participation by people with disabilities and their supporters. Please do whatever you can to spread this call far and wide.

If you are able to participate in any way, you will find a sign-up sheet here.

An HTML version of the project description document, for accessibility purposes, can be found here.

If you wish to contribute financially to offset the costs of disability-related accommodations, please see our GoFundMe campaign.
