Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Survey – Have Your Say

March 14, 2018

The Minister for Alberta Community and Social Services, The Honourable Irfan Sabir, is seeking input on his Department’s development of the Advocate for Persons with Disabilities.  This new position is a result of the Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Act, which was passed by the government last Spring.

Please take a moment to complete the Survey which can be found at: Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Survey

Inclusion Alberta supported the establishment of an independent advocate and the strengthening of the family and self-advocacy movements as recommended by the Summary Report: PDD Safety Standards Consultation.  We remain disappointed that the government did not establish an independent advocate and little action has occurred to-date in terms of strengthening family and individual advocacy.

Nevertheless, we encourage everyone to participate in the survey and contribute to the development of this new government position which we hope might eventually contribute to the establishment of an independent advocate and strengthening of individual and family advocacy organizations.

Thank you for participating in the survey. Deadline to complete the survey is March 31, 2018.
