SUMMARY:Creating and facilitating relationships (FMS Learning Series\, Calgary)
DESCRIPTION:2024/2025 FMS Learning Series  \nInclusion Alberta’s Darrell Cook Family Managed Supports Resource Centre presents:   \nCreating and Facilitating Relationships Through Community Engagement \nWorkshop Presenters:  TBD \nDate:  March 1\, 2025 \nTime: 10:00am-3:00pm  \nLocation: Inglewood Community Association Hall (1740 24 Avenue Southeast Calgary) \nRegister online here.  \n  \nConnecting with people and being social is fundamental to our well-being as humans. Relationships provide us all with emotional support\, a sense of belonging and opportunities for personal growth. Engaging with others also combats feelings of loneliness and isolation.   \nJoin us for a session as we explore the power of meaningful relationships for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This session will offer strategies and ideas for fostering community participation and how to connect people through community opportunities based on shared interests and abilities. We will explore how identifying individual interests and talents can be a powerful catalyst for creating new friendships and building a sense of belonging.   \nTogether\, we will unpack the significance and potential of normative pathways for individuals with intellectual disabilities relating to leading fulfilling lives in community. Participants will learn effective techniques for promoting meaningful inclusion and cultivating an environment to encourage friendships. This is an opportunity for both family members\, FMS staff or FSCD staff to gain valuable tools and insight to facilitate genuine connections in community.   \nRegister online here.  \n
