Finding pathways to relationships is a lifelong journey. For people with developmental disabilities, it may require thoughtful reflection, strategic planning and intentional facilitation. Relationships and friendships open doors to new worlds, helps discover self-identity and interests, and provides natural support when we need it. A significant role for staff hired by families through FMS or FSCD is not to be a paid friend, but to be the bridge to freely given friendships and relationships.
This session will explore:
• The meaning and power of natural pathways
• Capitalizing on individual interests and linking them to community opportunities
• The Role of the Facilitator
• Strategies for facilitating relationships in our community
Families, Self-Advocates, and FMS Staff are welcome to attend.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
