Inclusion Alberta, in partnership with Inclusion Wetaskiwin, is seeking a highly motivated half-time staff for a one-year project. Applications are being accepted now and will remain open until the position is filled.

The Community Connector will work directly with families who have children with developmental disabilities to assist them in developing and implementing personal plans for an inclusive future. Inclusion Alberta will provide a training program for successful applicants who will also work alongside Inclusion Alberta colleagues in each of the respective communities. While this is a one-year funded project, every effort will be made to secure ongoing funding and/or to provide future employment opportunities with Inclusion Alberta. However, employment beyond the one year cannot be guaranteed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in all required training opportunities.
  • Work directly with individual families and their family members, to:
    • develop and draft Personal Futures Plans;
    • support families in the implementation of their Plans; and
    • revise the Plans and implementation strategies as needed.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and updates.
  • Work closely with staff and board members of partnering organizations.

Qualifications of ideal candidates:

  • A university degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • A commitment to inclusion
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of developmental disabilities
  • Familiarity with the respective communities
  • A passion for learning and collaboration
  • Experience in capacity-thinking considered an asset
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Competent writing ability and well organized
  • Knowledge and understanding of Office 365 considered an asset

This half-time position will be located in and Wetaskiwin and area. Candidates will be required to travel to attend training in the communities where it is offered; travel costs are covered. Some evening and weekend work will be required for meetings with families.

This is a part-time position, with salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
