Part-time Personal Futures Facilitator – Medicine Hat

Inclusion Alberta, in partnership with Inclusion Medicine Hat, is seeking a highly motivated part-time staff for a one-year project to be located in Medicine Hat. Applications are being accepted now and will remain open until the position is filled. 

The role: Personal Futures Facilitator

The Facilitator will work directly with families who have children with developmental disabilities to assist them in developing and implementing personal plans for an inclusive future. Inclusion Alberta will provide a training program for successful applicants who will also work alongside Inclusion Alberta colleagues in each of the respective communities. While this is a one-year funded project, every effort will be made to secure ongoing funding and/or to provide future employment opportunities with Inclusion Alberta. However, employment beyond one year cannot be guaranteed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in all required training opportunities.

Work directly with individual families and their family members, to: develop and draft Personal Futures Plans; support families in the implementation of their Plans; and revise the Plans and implementation strategies as needed. 

Prepare and submit required reports and updates.

Work closely with staff and board members of the partnering organizations.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • a university degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • a commitment to inclusion
  • knowledge and experience in the field of developmental disabilities and community development
  • familiarity with the respective geographic community
  • a passion for learning and collaboration
  • excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to work as part of a team
  • competent writing ability and well organized
  • knowledge and understanding of Office 365 considered an asset

Working conditions: This half-time position will be located in Medicine Hat. Candidate will be required to travel to attend training in the communities where it is offered; travel costs are covered. Evening and weekend work may be required to meet with families.

This is a part-time position, with salary and benefits commensurate with experience. Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. Competition will close once a suitable candidate is found in each location.
